Debra Young
I have specialised
in internal communication for the past 15 years and as director of
internal communication for Orange group, I led a network of communicators
across 20 countries.
I have successfully
managed the communication of change programmes including the acquisition
and integration of Orange by France Telecom as well as numerous
business changes such as re-structuring and re-brandings. Good
communication can make a difference to the speed and success of such
programmes.
At Orange, I also set up their first internal communication
function and strategy and helped to develop a powerful Orange culture
inside the business linked to the brand.
Before Orange, I managed
Bristol & West’s well-established
internal communication function developing it by introducing improved
and innovative processes, channels and events.
I have written and
edited many employee publications, organised successful events and
oversaw the development of an international intranet. I have
run and introduced various face to face briefing processes including
training line managers.
I have worked as an independent
consultant for clients such as Great Western Trains, British Gas
and West Wiltshire Council. I have
also held in-house PR roles for the Institute of Directors, Somerfield
Stores and Avon County Council.
I was made a Fellow of Communicators
in Business (CIB) in 2004 and have won industry awards for work at
Orange, Bristol & West and
Great Western.
