P&O Nedlloyd
P&O Nedlloyd was the world’s third largest container
shipping business, employing over 12,000 staff, with offices in 165
countries.
The appointment of a new Director of Communication in early 2005
triggered the realisation that P&O Nedlloyd needed to review
its internal communication channels, structures and processes. Tailor-Made
Communication developed a proposal which was accepted.
However P&O Nedlloyd was the subject of a take-over bid by its
largest competitor, A P Moller Maersk in spring 2005. From May to
August 2005 - the period that the offer was considered by shareholders
- Tailor-Made supported the Communication Director and Internal Communications
Team by developing effective employee communication materials and
liaising with the Maersk communication team in Copenhagen.
After the offer was formally accepted Tailor-Made continued to
support the P&O Nedlloyd team as the communication function was successfully
integrated in the new structure. The resulting business, Maersk Line,
is the largest container shipping business in the world.
